This is part of why I've never signed up for NaNoWriMo. I have nothing against timed challenges, and have done some myself, including assembling a photo book in 31 days which resulted in some work I'm very proud of. But I really don't think forcing out arbitrary quantities or words or pages is good way to create stories worth reading. That applies here on Medium as well.
