Thank you for including my response. To clarify, my point about photography was not specifically in reference to Maria Mouschoutzi's piece (which I hadn't yet read). It was in response to the oft-repeated notion that critics of AI image generation are comparable to critics of photography when that medium first became available. I do not see AI image generation as merely another step in the evolution of human creativity; it is an affront to it.
Regardless of whether or not the activity of these AI companies is legal, they are threatening the livelihood of human artists and photographers. Creative professionals are being told, essentially, to get over it and adapt to this new reality. This is a sad state of affairs.
