Speaking as a queer black trans San Francisco resident: Having our lives, identities, and pronouns respected is not being “coddled” or “spoiled rotten.” Women who are catcalled are not “asking for it” whether they are cis or trans, regardless of how they are presenting themselves. A trans man is not a “biological woman,” he is a man, regardless of his sexual orientation, and not trying to “fool” anyone. And a trans woman who utters a racist epithet does not forfeit her right to be gendered correctly.

Also, “transgender” is an adjective (as in “a transgender woman”), not a noun (as in “a transgender”).
