It bothers me too that facial hair is associated so strongly with masculinity. I can take beards or leave them, but I grew one specifically so that strangers would stop calling me “Ma’am” and “Miss”. Took four years of testosterone therapy, but I don’t hear those words directed at me anymore (not that “Sir” is correct either, but it doesn’t trigger my dysphoria as much).
Likewise, it bothers me that visible breasts are associated so strongly with femininity. I don’t mind having breasts, but I conceal them in public (by layering rather than binding) to reduce the likelihood of being mistaken for a woman.
