Jimmy “Jimbo” Wales is actually the co-founder, with Larry Sanger, of Wikipedia, though pointing this out might piss Jimbo off. Agreed that his actions should be watched closely; while Jimbo is technically not in charge of the site (he’s on the Board of Trustees in an emeritus role), he is frequently seen as the public face of Wikipedia, though really Katherine Maher as Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation should have greater claim to that status.

Regardless, people doing paid editing without disclosure on Wikipedia is nothing new, sadly.
