Interesting thoughts. I’ve been using “x community” simply as shorthand for “people who are x” (queer, LGBTQ, trans, etc.), which I admit is kind of lazy. Certainly I, a black agender transmasculine person, have very little in common with Caitlyn Jenner, for example, other than us both being trans and US-Americans. But as she is trans and a woman, she is subject to transmisogyny. So however privileged she is via class and skin color, and however vile I find her politics, I will defend her from being misgendered or subjected to trans-antagonistic attacks. (Cis folks who are actual allies should do the same, of course.)
