I'm trans and a long-time California resident, but I'd hesitate to advise people to move here or to any of the other supposedly "safe" states. That especially goes for Black and Brown trans folks. Here in San Francisco we do have stronger protections for gender identity than in most of the U.S., but we also have a lot of queer and trans people of color living on the streets and being targeted by police.
