I love John Williams' scores too, but honestly speaking as an amateur musician, I feel like dismissing a musical composition for not having a hummable melody is like dismissing a poem for not having rhyming couplets. There's a lot more to a great movie score than that. (Granted, you do acknowledge that not every film needs to have a hummable theme song.)
