I avoid words and phrases that assume gender is binary. Some examples:

• "Their" instead of "his or her"

• "They" instead of "he or she"

• "Everyone" or "people" instead of "men and women"

• "Honored guests" or "Friends" instead of "Ladies and gentlemen"
