I absolutely love Newman's score. I bought it and have listened to it many times, independent of the movie, which I also loved.

I also loved Annie Lennox's cover of Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring You Down", which was featured in a key scene with Lester and Angela. Unfortunately, this song was included on neither the score nor the soundtrack album; I had to get it from Lennox's own Medusa album at the time. (Rights issues, I assume; of course now people can just stream everything...)
