Hello - I found this post through a "vanity search" on my name. I would have appreciated you linking to this post in a comment on my original article.

In any case, you misunderstand or misstate several of my positions:

Pax Ahimsa Gethen on Medium demands progressive Catholics to explain why they remain Catholic.

I did not "demand" anything. It was a request.

Pax begins by stating emphatically they are an atheist. This means they claim there is no god and all that exists is what we can perceive on our own.

I claim no such thing. I recognize and acknowledge that a great deal exists outside of what humans can perceive on our own. The difference is I do not label the unknown as "God". And in particular I do not ascribe human qualities to the divine. As I've stated elsewhere, I became an atheist when I realized that God was created in the image of man, and not the other way around.

Let me go back to Pax. They say that because of the Archbishop’s pronunciation upon Nancy Pelosi, I should leave the Catholic Church.

I stated clearly in my article that I don't really care about Nancy Pelosi. What I care about is the Catholic Church's historic and ongoing oppression of women and the LGBTQ community. This latest pronouncement was just a part of that.

I do not know if I qualify as a progressive Catholic.

From what you've written, I would say clearly not.
