Great post. I love the idea of choosing one's own name becoming a rite of passage for everyone.

One important distinction between the deadnames of trans people and those of the cis celebrities you highlight in this article is that cis celebrities' former names are often well-known. This issue comes up a lot on Wikipedia, where the current consensus is to only mention the deadname of a trans subject if they gained notability under that name, and only mention it once. This policy only came after years of often-painful discussion, which is still ongoing.
