Agreed, though many cultures throughout history have respected oral traditions. And of course, written testimony is fallible as well.

Speaking as an atheist, I feel the more important point is that every word of every translation of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament was written by human beings. So any argument that quotes the Bible is interpreting the words of a human, not the Abrahamic God or any other deity.
